Bruny Island Cheese Company is an artisan cheese maker in southern Tasmania, owned and operated by Nick Haddow. The cheeses are all made and matured using traditional techniques and are some of the finest artisan cheeses made in Australia.
Cellar Door on Bruny Island is open every day from 10am until 5pm.
Located about 15 minutes drive from the ferry, on the main road heading to Adventure Bay. Look out for the sign on the left hand side as you enter Great Bay. Come in and taste the full range, watch cheese being made and have a chat with the cheese makers.
Sit under the eucalypts and enjoy a cheese platter and a bottle of local wine. Or coffee and cake. Or stay for a long, lazy lunch with a few of the locals. Also selling home-made ice creams in seasonal flavours, such as Organic Rhubarb and Bay, Quince Ripple and Leatherwood Honey. Make sure you grab a loaf of organic wood-fired sourdough bread to enjoy with your cheese or a jar from the home-made range of relishes and preserves.
