Bruny Island Cycle Tours and Hire is based just before the ferry to the island, in Kettering. Not only does the company hire both normal and electric bike, it also conducts tours.
If you are without transport, and, reasonably fit, this is a really good way to see the island. Please note that there are no buses or taxies on Bruny Island. Some of the conducted tours go further down the island and require an over night stop in Alonnah. However, there is quite a range of options.
Advice is given on their website about the level of ability and also the range of tours. Advice is also given about the range and management of electric bikes. If you are not 'happy' with hills, then this sort of bike is a bonus, but, you still need to pedal, or the power will not see you through the day. Bruny Island is quite hilly in places and has some dirt track roads, so prepare well and take advice from the experts in the company.
Below is a time laps image of a trip made by a cyclist with a 'go pro' camera. This will give you some idea of the roads and the off road possibilities.
Bruny Island Cycle Tours and Hire is the eco way to travel and you will see far more than in a car
